The energy is incredible, the fashion is exquisite but the street style is my favorite part. As I look back on some of my favorite photos from previous New York Fashion Weeks (shown above) I am so thankful for the great memories and the best friends that I have made along the way.

Even though this isn’t my first rodeo I still can use all the help I can get. I have taken the past few weeks days to prepare all of my outfits and scour the internet for quick tips on how to prepare your skin for the freezing cold weather but I wanted a fresh view and new tips/tricks so I decided to turn to a few of the Modeltestants (AlanaFelisa, & Allison) from Oxygen’s The Face which premiers March 5th.

I got to chat with these Modeltestants who are fairly new to the New York fashion scene but have been coached by experts (NaomiNigelAnne & Lydia) about how they get ready for as big of an event as New York Fashion Week. The Modeltestants explained to me that in order to prepare they eat healthy, meditate, get a manicure and workout. They also mentioned that one of their best skin secrets was moisturizer so their faces look fresh during castings and shows (I ordered this one).

After chatting about everything from favorite fashion trends, best designers and favorite beauty products I asked the girls what was the best advice that they had been given by their facemakers (anyone who helps transform a person into a supermodel). Everything was said from “be yourself” to “don’t let anyone break you” but then Alana spoke up and said one of her coaches told her to “fake it till you make it” and I just loved that because it is so true. It really made everything come full circle and brought me back to my very first fashion week when I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. I am not saying that I have made it but I can confidently say I know a lot more and feel more prepared now than I did back then. If only I had facemakers to help me at the beginning!

I cannot wait to watch these talented Modeltestants compete on Oxygen’s The Face March 5th 10/9c to be The Face of Frederic Fekkai.
