It’s no secret that contouring is the best way to expertly play up facial features. Ironically enough, it’s the one thing that I have never really mastered when it comes to my make up routine. To me, contouring has always seemed like this very overwhelming and scary beauty process that I have just avoided. I am not sure if I have avoided it because of the fear or looking like a clown or that I was just too lazy to teach myself. Either way I have not tried it, until now.
Last month I was reading a magazine and there was an article about the new Clinque cheek contouring palette. Like most females, when I read a beauty article I can’t seem to get the product out of my mind until I have at least tried it, so that’s exactly what I did. I ordered the new Clinque cheek contouring palettes, brush and also the cheeky chubby sticks (for highlighting and contouring). I mean why not see what all the hype was. Plus worse case scenario it would at least make me over come this make up hurdle.
Well, the Clinque products came in the mail and needless to say I am so far from disappointed. You guys, they are great. While I am still practicing, I have to say I am getting a bit better. Out of the products that I ordered (the chubby sticks & the cheeky powder) the cheeky powder is my favorite. It’s just natural to add into my everyday make up routine. That may change once I actually take a decent amount of time and practice with the chubby sticks but I have yet to get comfortable or take the time to draw big dark lines on my face after my face make up is on and blend.
I did a little research (aka the Clinque website) and learned some tips on how to contour with the Clinque powder and chubby stick (still working on this one). I hope this helps if you have ever wanted to learn how to contour!
How to Contour with Clinque Powder Palettes:
-For blush in a rush: Use a Blush Brush (I also like this Trish McEvoy one) to swirl all three shades together. Dust over the apples of the cheeks for an all-over radiance.
-For super-sculpted cheeks: Use the Eye Shader brush to sweep the highlight shade across the tops of cheekbones. Then, with a clean Eye Shader Brush, apply contour shade just below cheekbones. Swirl the Blush Brush across all three shades and sweet across he apples of cheekbones to blend.
How to Contour with Clinque Chubby Sticks:
-To highlight features in a flash: Dab Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight across the top of each cheekbone, down the bridge of the nose, in the middle of your forehead and in the center of your chin. Blend well with fingertips.
-To make cheekbones pop: Suck in checks and swipe Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight across the top of each cheekbone and Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour underneath each cheekbone. Blend well with fingertips.
-To slim and shape the nose: Use the side edge of Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour on either side of the nose, and then apply Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight down the bridge of the nose. Blend well with fingertips.
-To define the jawline: Dot Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour along the jawline and blend down.
