After a somewhat chilly last month or so (for Dallas), my sweet little family decided that we needed a warm beach get away. We wanted something that was a quick flight from Dallas (only 2 hours and 10 minutes) but also gave us a totally different climate and vibe. As people who LOVE the Miami area, we thought that it would be fun to make a trip to Key Biscayne, since we had never been there.
I did a little research and I found the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne and after chatting with a couple of friends who had stayed there before (one couple with kids and the other without), we thought it would be a perfect fit for our first family beach vacation. All I have to say is that we could not have picked a better spot.
Since we were traveling not as light as we usually do, we decided to get this room to have a little more space for the baby (and us) and also get a connecting room to set up Ralph’s crib/etc. We absolutely LOVED staying in this room because it had a living room and an extra balcony which was so nice to lounge as a family and watch movies and even order dinner in one night.
Okay, okay; I got a bit side tracked when I started talking about the room because you guys, it really was THAT amazing. Anyways, upon arriving at The Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne we were greeted with champagne upon check in. After getting settled in our rooms, the baby needed a nap and Wade and I were hungry to we decided to put the baby down and Wade and I headed downstairs to Lightkeepers to have a few appetizers and a cocktail or two (for those of you concerned, we brought our nanny and did not leave Ralph ALONE in his hotel room). After having a long and relaxing late lunch, Wade and I went upstairs to wake Ralph, enjoy bottle and playtime before he went down for the night. After we got the baby down, Wade and I relaxed some more in the room (relaxing was a big theme this trip) before heading down to Rumbar for tapas and cocktails. Guys, I am not even kidding when I say that not only was the live music so much fun but the food was INSANE. As people who love to try new things, we loved this cuban inspired menu and tried a lot of the items on the menu.
Sunday came much quicker than we thought (I blame the cocktails) but we booked a cabana for a fun pool day with baby Ralph. Prior to the babe, I would have just strolled downstairs and grabbed a couple of chairs no problem, but there was something so nice about knowing that our place was already reserved. With the cabana came a beautiful fruit plate, a refrigerator filled with water and soft drinks and snacks. It was so nice having all of those things at our finger tips, especially with the little guy. It was a windier day, so we decided to stay pool side and enjoy the heated pool with baby Ralph. We did walk down to the beach and they had all of these adorable little chairs for kids (and of course adults).
After a nice morning at the pool, we were a little hungry, so we decided to head up to the Club Level at the Ritz and grab some lunch. (If you have never done the club level at the Ritz, I highly recommend…they have food/drinks/snacks/coffee/etc out all day and it really is amazing). After a work out in the gym (the gym in insane at this hotel), a quick trip to the steam room; we opted to order room service and watch the Golden Globes. This was such a fun night with my little family just lounging and snuggling.
Honestly, I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne. We loved it so much we are already planning our next little get away to this wonderful hotel.
