As I have previously mentioned, last Thursday I had the privilege of attending the Diet Pepsi Style Studio Party.
This was such an unreal experience. Not not only because I got to go backstage, rub shoulder with guests like Mary Kate Olsen, Kelly Rutherford, Kristen Chenoweth, Debra Messing, Simon Doonan…(just to name a few)…but also because Dallas’ own Shirin Asriki was selected as one of the 4 designers in the country to show a few of her looks this evening.

The evening was perfect. The set, designed by the one and only Jonathan Adler was absolutely exquisite. Also, Simon Doonan made the PERFECT fashion commentator for the evening, he is absolutely hilarious!
I can’t even begin to tell you how exciting it was to watch a Dallas designer (season 6 project runway contestant) as talented as Shirin be honored in front of New Yorks finest fashionistas and get to really showcase her talents!
Shirin explained to me that Simon Doonan gave them 3 themes…Safari, Silver Fox/Fog and Avant Garde Work Wear…Now I know these themes may seem a little all over the map, but she NAILED all of them perfectly! (see below for her original sketches)
I have met Shirin a few times and I can honestly say that I have never met someone so down to earth and who is so humble about her amazing talents. Not only is she a blast to hang out with, she is talented beyond her years.
