How to get your best summer skin.It’s crazy to think how fast 2017 is flying by! Since the hottest time of the year is quickly approaching and I live in a sweltering city like Dallas, it’s so important for me to take care of my skin daily. When I found out I was pregnant, one of the first things I noticed was a change in my skin. Since then, I’ve began to take proactive measures in protecting my skin and putting forth the prettiest glow possible! Many of you may know that I’ve been getting facials about every three weeks which has been an absolute lifesaver but if you can’t make it to the spa, there’s a few things you can do at home to keep your skin radiating! Here are my five best skin tips for the summer and really all throughout the year.

  • Wear sunscreen every day. 
    I was told at a young age that using sunscreen every day is the best way to prevent wrinkles and any premature signs of aging (thanks mom). This is the one that I use: http://bit.ly/2rK375f 
    This sunscreen is so lightweight and doesn’t ever make me feel greasy! And it lasts all throughout the day so you never have to worry about reapplying. **we also keep their face wash in our shower…it’s one of my favorites!
  • Sleep on a 100% silk pillowcase. 
    Sleeping on a silk pillowcase is one of my best beauty secrets. Many people may not know that cotton pillowcases ‘stick’ to your skin, taking off any good products you may have put on before bedtime. And if you’ve ever woken up with a bad crease on the side of your face, that’s also from sleeping on a cotton pillowcase!     Another plus, silk pillowcases are known to protect your hair from breakage and prolong your blowout for another day! So what’s not to love? 
  • Drink a TON of water. 
    People always say that you’re supposed to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. During the dog days of summer, I really think this number could be amped up to nine or ten, to really keep your skin hydrated! So I consciously have to force myself to drink plenty of water all throughout the day- even when I’m not thirsty! When I’m out running errands for a long time, I like to pour my Essentia into a S’well bottle so it stays cool for hours! 
  • Exfoliate and moisturize my skin.
    It’s easy to forget about the rest of your body, but it’s so important to exfoliate in the shower and get rid of dead skin! Immediately after exfoliating, I always moisturize my skin with a good lotion or oil. Here are some of my favorite options: I love this one, this one, and this one.
  • Try to be healthy and happy.
    Although I try to be as diligent as possible with my skincare routine, I’ve also learned that at the end of the day, there’s only so much you can do. Sometimes living a healthy and happy life can be the biggest beauty tip of them all.
